Reading is Escaping

We read to get away remember? We bury ourselves in these worlds or words and live and breathe somewhere else in someone else. Their thoughts drive us farther away from our own and for that I am forever grateful. To have something so pure and innocent to run to.

Wise words from Nat. Had to share. Couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Sunday in September

Hello everyone!

It has been so long since Liz and I have posted anything! Life can be and get so hectic, so busy. I can assure you all it’s the good kind of hectic and good kind of busy that has been captivating our attention.

Now that summer is over and all the outdoor activities been shunned from the suddenly nippy crisp air, (I could be exaggerating a bit) we sit back on our dusty couches and remember all the things we left behind, like this blog. So here we are, ready to give you all we have to give when we can give it.

New phone, who dis?

WHOA!

Hey there!

How ya been?

Long time, no… read? Write? Review? Chit chat?

I don’t know. Whatever you want to call it, it has surely been a long time. (Hey, don’t call me Shirley!) [Nerd reference: movie is Airplane, watch it or be lame-ish.]

Anyways, we are back. Or planning on being back. FOR GOOD! MUAHAHA! Nothing can stop us.

A sebatacle isn’t always a bad thing right? Sometimes we have to walk away to figure out what matters most? Wow. That was a cheesy way to talk about a blog, but hey, it happened and I am moving on.

Cough cough, you can meet me down here when you’re ready to move on, too.

So… are we ready for more laughs? More stories? More randomness and blogging about the craziness of everyday life? (I know I am!)

LET’S DO THIS!

Upcoming events…

  • tiling with smart tiles!
  • cleaning hacks!
  • writer’s block!
  • photography by Nat!
  • and more!

Venting, the good kind…

Today I start a new job, well, an additional job I should say.

Being a full-time mother of three I tend to take on little side jobs, or part time gigs. Some people may curse the idea of me working, some may be envious of me being able to get out of the house. Either way, I AM HAPPY!

We spend so much time trying to please everyone else sometimes, that we tend to forget about ourselves. Well guess what, I am choosing not to forget anymore.

My fiance is a licensed plumber and he absolutely loves his job, his career. Sure, everyone has their daily complaints, concerns, moans and groans. But he genuinely loves what he does. And I have envied that for a very long time.

Don’t get me wrong, I love spending every waking moment with my kiddos. They are my world, my light in the dark, my everything. I love them so much.

But if I were to be honest, sometimes I can feel … stuck? Not sure if that is the right word. People tell me, “you are young, you have so much time LATER to start your life”, “save that for LATER, when the kids are grown”, “do it LATER”.

However, for my fiance, everything is NOW, NOW, NOW! (Not for him of course, he would drop everything for me or our children). Everyone else pushes him forward, but holds me back.

I deserve to grow too, to find things I am passionate about. To be happy. To live in the now!

So, it has begun. My “now” has started. Yes, I have four small jobs, that take up little bits and pieces of my week, but they are my home away from home. They are my escape from the 24/7 mom life. They are my NOW, my HAPPY.

And you know what? I cherish the time with my children that much more. Because when I get home, I can’t wait to squeeze them in a tight hug. Or cuddle with them while just watching some silly tv show. Or make them something special for dinner, just because.  It is that much more special when it isn’t just a daily chore. Or something I am “supposed” to be doing.

I encourage all of you to find your happiness, live in the now. DREAM, and keep dreaming folks. Don’t let anyone or anything hold you back.

Much love, Liz!

Haunted House Help

BOO!

Did I scare you? Aw shucks, I’m sorry. Here let me make it up to you by helping you prepare for an ULTIMATE HAUNTED HOUSE ADVENTURE!

You see, where we live, there are scattered abandoned buildings carefully guarded by police due to dangerous accommodations and structural defects and.. of course.. GHOSTS! But no, they won’t admit it.

Ever seen X-Files? Mulder and Scully? Well, they prepped me for this adventure (that I will never actually go through with because my darkness phobia is so beyond real, I can’t even close my EYES!) Kidding, kidding. About the eye thing though, not being afraid of the dark. That’s totes real.

Through one of longgggg email chains I was telling Nat that we were going to go to an abandoned building for one of our “friend dates”. (Don’t judge us, BE US.)

Anyway the conversation went like this:

LIZ: P.D. [Name hidden for multiple reasons!] Did you ever venture there in high school?! It took me forever to remember the name of it. TOTALLY CREEPY! We went during the day and it’s guarded by cops, but supposedly haunted. Like whaaat, lets go there, during the day of course…

NAT: Um did you just try and invite me to go to an abandoned house? ARE YOU EFFING INSANE? Have you not learned anything from scary movies? OH THAT’S RIGHT! You don’t watch any…….. We’ll need some supplies if we are doing this, please make a list of what you think we’ll need and I’ll verify if you’re ready to go…

LIZ: *challenge accepted*

Which brings me to my point. Here is my carefully thought out, well planned, even more well prepared list to have the time of your life (and live to tell about it):

Abandoned House Necessities List

– Police Scanner (on phone) to make sure the cops don’t catch us

– 13 flashlights, with extra batteries

– your machete, because, YA KNOW.

– rape whistles

– pocket knife

– mace

– two guys (to toss at anything ready to eat us)

– we need to wear dark clothing so the cops don’t see us over bright fucking light up clothing that we wear inside the building so we don’t lose each other

– water, because gotta stay hydrated before running like maniacs from pieces of paper floating in the wind

– snacks, because I am always hungry

YOU’RE WELCOME.

Daily Dose of Wisdom

“You keep me sane woman! here I am reading into things like a mosquito and a bright light and you pull me back and slap me silly!!! I just pictured us being mosquito and you grabbing me and slapping me in a high tiny voice telling me to keep it together!” – Natalie

It seems only right that we make this legit.

Mosquito Skit

Starring:

Liz

Nat

Nat: It’s – it’s just so pretty. I need it.

Liz: Get your flappy ass back here, where you going?

Nat: But you don’t understand—-

*Liz takes one of nat’s wings by her… hand/claw/thing and pulls her away*

Liz: If you go, you die. If you die, I die. If WE die, we gon’ be missin out on a lotta good suckin’!

Okay, that was way more pervy than I wanted. But please read in an obnoxiously high voice for full effect!

An Invitation

Welcome February and Happy Groundhog Day!

Or is it? I mean, Mr. Punxsutawney Phil did in fact see his shadow, which apparently means six more weeks of winter. Where art thou, Spring?
Whatever the season, whatever the weather, we can make this work!

Spring will come soon enough and then we can resume the following:

SPRING FORWARD!
SPRING INTO ACTION!
SPRING FOR THE WIN!

Anyway, I didn’t want this post to be about ground hogs or spring, even though these are not bad topics to babble on about. I want to post an invitation for all writers of all kinds. This invitation entails a gateway to our email for anything you writers may need advice on or just another set of eyes on. We highly support anyone who loves writing and wants to succeed in writing. If your passionate about something you should do everything in your power to do that something every day. No matter how small or how much time is spent on it, it makes a difference.

The whole reason for this blog is for us to join together with others who share our passions, fears and uniqueness. So why not lend a helping hand, a steady eye or a careful ear to those surrounding us?

Blogs are supposed to be inspired by your everyday activities, your creative mind and your outlook on life. A perpetual world where we could exist and stand out or stay behind the curtains and watch from afar¡ There is no shame in being overly confident or underly shy (is underly even a word?).

Anyway, join us, believe with us and help us make a difference by letting us help you. We love every single one of you mystical creatures and would love to hear your stories, where your from, what you dream to do and help you achieve every goal you have.

With love & admiration, Nat & Liz ❤
